Reiki and Sound Healing
Reiki and Sound Healing are both vibrational in nature. Everything in the universe is vibrating. Even your organs and tissues have unique vibrational patterns, as well as you body as a whole. When you are in full health and vitality, you are “in tune,” with all systems and organs are vibrating as they are meant to. When the stresses and challenges of life accumulate, they alter the vibrations and throw us “out of tune” in one way or another,
Through Reiki and Sound Healing your natural vibrations can be restored, bringing harmony to your whole being. While these sacred modalities are powerful tools for any physical, emotional, mental and spiritual issue, my work is particularly effective for supporting your journey to break free from “the shoulds,” limiting thought patterns, and old habits… to discover and express the fullness of who you are–your most authentic self.
I work from a place of surrender and service to the Divine. I am not manipulating your energy in a session. It is both my prayer and my personal work to get out of the way and let the Divine energies that are beyond our understanding flow through me in service to your unique healing journey.
Who you are is a gift … and it’s time to heal the wounds that are holding you back from offering that gift to the world. You are good enough. You ARE enough … and I am privileged to support you in owning that truth. When you live from the truth and express your authentic self, life becomes easier, more joyful, and deeply fulfilling.
Reiki is an experience. During a session, the recipient becomes increasingly relaxed, which allows the body’s innate healing ability to manifest, leading to a deeper awareness of and connection to one’s divine nature.
“Reiki is based on the idea that there is a universal (or source) energy that supports the body’s innate healing abilities. Practitioners seek to access this energy, allowing it to flow to the body and facilitate healing. The word “Reiki” is derived from two Japanese words: rei, or universal, and ki, or life energy.
“In a Reiki session, the client lies down or sits comfortably, fully clothed. The practitioner’s hands are placed lightly on or just above the client’s body, palms down, using a series of 12 to 15 different hand positions. Each position is held for about 2 to 5 minutes, or until the practitioner feels that the flow of energy—experienced as sensations such as heat or tingling in the hands—has slowed or stopped. The number of sessions depends on the health needs of the client. Typically, the practitioner delivers at least four sessions of 30 to 90 minutes each.”
This universal life force that flows through all living things can become blocked from traumatic or hurtful experiences, stuck emotions, and patterns of thinking and relating that do not support our growth. As a Reiki practitioner, I serve as a channel for the Reiki energy to flow to you, where it helps to remove the blocks—re-balancing, realigning, and rejuvenating your whole being. It is a nourishing practice of self-care that harmonizes all parts of you, reviving a sense of connection with your inherent wholeness.
Many doctors and healthcare institutions have embraced the benefits of Reiki practice. Mehmet Oz has been an enthusiastic promoter of Reiki for many years and includes it in his cardiovascular surgery protocols. Over 800 hospitals incorporate Reiki in their patient care. It has been offered at University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center for several years.
The benefits of Reiki are broad-based, and there are no contraindications. It provides a safe and effective adjunct to traditional treatments, minimizing their side effects and decreasing healing time and hospital stays. Reiki is a deeply nourishing and relaxing experience, the effects of which continue to deepen and reveal themselves over time.
Sound healing is the intentional use of the voice or instruments to promote healing by restoring harmony to the bodymindspirit. Sound can restore the natural frequency of organs and tissues in the body, which become disrupted from stress and disease. Sound healing also expands consciousness and connects us with our most essential self.
Sound has been used as the first line of treatment for centuries in ancient and indigenous cultures, from drumming in Native American and African traditions, to chanting in Buddhist or Yogic traditions. When there is disharmony in the bodymindspirit, the intentional use of sound vibration assists in bringing your whole being back into harmony.
I use quartz crystal singing bowls, which serve to quiet “mind chatter” and allow you to relax into the present moment. The crystalline structures within our blood, tissues and bones resonate with the vibrations of the crystal bowls, restoring balance. I add vocal toning with the bowls, and may use other instruments during a healing session such as a rattle, bells or frame drum.
